Police bust fake 'colleagues'

Two men have been arrested in Amsterdam for allegedly masquerading as police officers. The Romanian men are accused of trying to steal money from a man. The victim got away and three suspects fled in a car. A police officers saw what happened and alerted a mobile patrol to give chase. The suspects' car was stopped at Eerste Helmersstraat, where two of the men were arrested. The third escaped but police say it is only a matter of time before they find him.

30 kilos of cocaine on ship

Police found 30 kilos of cocaine on a container ship from South America at Prince Willem-Alexander harbour in Rotterdam on Friday. A 43-year-old native of the Philippines was arrested. The seizure was carried out by HARC (Hit and Run Container Team), which is made up of officers of the Harbour Police, the Customs Service and the Tax Office's investigation service FIOD.

Suspected terrorist arrested

Officers of the Military Police, Marechaussee, arrested a 37-year-old Turkish man on the A2 near Eijsden on 1 August. He is wanted in his own country on suspicion of 15 murders, violent robberies and membership of a terrorist organisation. He is being held at the high security detention centre at Vught pending extradition. 

Woman admits to harming baby

A 26-year-old woman from Tilburg has admitted seriously injuring her seven-week-old baby. She shook the child so hard that the baby is now in critical condition in hospital. The woman was remanded in custody for 14 days.
