Bot summons Iranian ambassador

Dutch Foreign Minister Ben Bot has summoned the Iranian ambassador to a meeting after the President of Iran, Ahmed Ahmadinejad, on Wednesday described the Holocaust as a myth. He also repeated an earlier suggestion that Israel should be relocated. He said the country could be moved to Germany, Austria or North America. Bot summoned the Iranian ambassador in November when Ahmadinejad declared Israel should be wiped from the map.

Erkel to stand for the Christian Democrats

Former hostage Arjan Erkel is in sixth place on a list of candidates being fielded by the Christian Democrat Party (CDA) in the local elections in Rotterdam. Erkel worked for Doctors Without Borders in Dagestan and spent almost two years in captivity after being kidnapped in 2002. He was released in April 2004 after the Dutch government provided the EUR 1 million ransom money.
