Dutch national coach Van Marwijk wants more substitutions

Coach Bert van Marwijk has said he wants to be able to substitute four players instead of three during matches. At a FIFA congress in Madrid Last month, he presented his idea to all other coaches who were present at the World Cup in South Africa.

,,I got the impression that many coaches supported my plan", Mr Van Marwijk said on the eve of the European Championships qualification match against Moldova. "Because of the busy playing schedule, many players have suffered injuries. By substituting four players instead of three, you can give your players a little more rest."

Against Moldova on Friday, the Dutch coach will have to make do without players Robin van Persie, Arjen Robben, Eljero Elia, Ron Vlaar, Vurnon Anita, Hedwiges Maduro and Theo Janssen, all of them currently injured.
