Dutch motorbiker wins last leg of Dakar rally
Dutch motorbiker Frans Verhoeven has won the last leg of the Dakar Rally. The Dutch motorbike rider beat his Portuguese rival Helder Rodrigues by just five seconds. Brazilian Jean de Azevedo came third over the finish in Buenos Aires in Argentina.
Spaniard Marc Coma won the overall race by a quarter of an hour. Verhoeven is in fifteenth place, after a engine trouble on Monday slowed him down for several valuable hours.
The Dakar Rally, formerly known as Paris-Dakar, used to be held between Paris in France and Dakar in Senegal. The rally was moved to South America in 2009 following safety fears for the off-track vehicle race in the north African country Mauritania.
