Dutch men's hockey team advances to semi-finals

The Dutch men's hockey team has qualified for the semi-finals at the Olympic Games in Beijing.

BEIJING - The Dutch men's hockey team has qualified for the semi-finals at the Olympic Games in Beijing.

In the last group match, Holland beat Pakistan 4-2. Taeke Taekema, who has been on good form throughout the tournament, scored twice from a penalty corner.

The other two goals were scored by Matthijs Brouwer and Jeroen Herzberger. It is not yet known who Holland will play in the semi-finals.

On Monday, Dutch cyclist Marianne Vos won gold in the points race at the Beijing velodrome, and yachtswomen Marcelien de Koning and Lobke Berkhout won silver in the 470 class. So far, the Netherlands has won 12 medals; three gold, five silver and four bronze.
