AMSTERDAM — Just under half of all Dutch men want to have sex more often, according to the findings of research published on Monday.
Over 35,000 people filled in the online survey on internet portal 'Je Eche Leeftijd' (your real age).
The survey was put together by two sexologists. One of them, Vera Steenhart, said it was noteworthy that 85 percent of the men said they were happy with a sex session if it resulted in their partner also having an orgasm. "Many women evidently don't find that so important, but obviously it is very important for men," Steenhart said.
A quarter of the male respondents indicated they had sexual desires which were not catered for within their relationships, and a third said they wanted their partner to show more initiative.
Only 6 percent dared to go to a sexologist to discuss problems in their sex lives, with a quarter of couples go to the doctor together.
The sexologists concluded that men prefer to find information about sexual matters on the internet.
