Regional lawmakers in the Netherlands rejected a bid by Germany's second biggest power company

THE HAGUE - Regional lawmakers in the Netherlands rejected a bid by Germany's second biggest power company, RWE, to take over the Dutch electric utility Essent, in a vote on Friday.

The deputies in the southern province of North Brabant voted by a slim majority against the EUR 9.3-billion (USD 12.5-billion) takeover move, which was agreed by the two companies in January.
