Dutch kids record-holders of internet use
Dutch children have the highest number of internet profiles of all European children between the age of 9 and 12. And 70 percent have a personal page on a social networking site.
These figures were released by the European Commission on Monday. French kids are at the bottom of the list with just 25 percent. In the category 13-year-olds to 16-year-olds, the Netherlands scored one of the highest percentages: 87 percent.
The European Commission notes that many young people maintain profiles which are accessible to all. European Digital Agenda Commissioner Neelie Kroes warns that: “These children are taking risks and form a vulnerable prey to stalkers and paedophiles.”
