Dutch justice minister wants end to police ticket quotas
Justice Minister Ivo Opstelten will send a letter today to inform regional police commanders ‘loud and clear’ that ticket quotas must be scrapped.
A spokesperson for the minister said: "It is a thorn in our side. The minister will meet with the police leadership as soon as possible to drum this message into their heads: no more ticket quotas." The policy of demanding that police officers issue a minimal number of tickets has long been an issue in Parliament. Abolition of the quotas was agreed upon in the new cabinet's coalition agreement.
