Dutch job growth in second quarter modest

Second quarter job growth in the Netherlands was modest, says Statistics Netherlands.

There were 51,000 more jobs compared with a year ago, a year-on-year increase of 0.6 percent, according to he Dutch statistics office. In relation to the first quarter, the number of jobs, corrected for seasonal variation, rose by 25,000.

The sectors that saw jobs added included commerce, transport, the tourist industry, health care and business services. In the industry, construction, financial services and civil service employment dropped.

The number of state workers fell by 12,000 compared with a year ago. cl
