Ajax have beaten Roda JC 0-4, ending a string of five consecutive losses, and narrowing the gap on both PSV and FC Twente to a mere two points at the top of the Premier League.

Christian Eriksen, who’s back in the core squad, put Ajax ahead just six minutes into the match. In the opening phase of the second half, Theo Janssen on 50 minutes and Jody Lukoki on 57 then extended the away team’s lead, with Lorenzo Ebecilio adding their fourth just before the end.

Playing home, bottom-of-the-league Excelsior have won their first victory of the season after defeating  RKC Waalwijk 1-0. The match’s only goal came on 17 minutes when Ard van Peppen scored an own goal. RKC played with just ten men after 63 minutes, and from 80 minutes on with just nine. Guy Ramos was sent off after twice earning a yellow card. Henrico Drost was shown red outright. However, with just five points out of 11 fixtures, Excelsior still remain at the bottom of the table.

SC Heerenveen, on the other hand, notched up their eighth victory in row, after securing a well-deserved if somewhat inflated 4-0 win over ADO Den Haag. After a mediocre first half, Luciano Narsingh scored the first goal just seconds before half-time, with Luciano Narsingh scoring a hattrick in the game’s closing stage, two of them from the penalty spot. Christian Supusepa, who prompted the first penalty, was shown read when he fouled Narsingh, who had broken through ADO’s defence.

FC Twente managed to hold PSV to a 2-2 draw. PSV were up 2-1 when Kevin Strootman was sent off with a red card on 72 minutes, leaving them a man down. As a result, six minutes later substitute Leroy Fer equalised for the home side. Ten minutes into the match, Douglas ahd scored for PSV, with Zakaria Labyad equalising just a minute later. An hour later Marcelo the put PSV in the lead once again, until Fer’s equaliser caused the match to end 2-2. After 11 matches, both teams now have 22 points, three less than league leaders AZ, who face Heracles Almelo on Sunday.
