Dutch expect more tourists despite rain
One of the most rained-out months of July in Dutch recorded history seems to have little or no impact on the number of foreign tourists visiting the country.
The Netherlands Board of Tourism and Conventions expects an increase in the number of foreign visitors compared to last year. The number of Dutch people who choose to spend their holidays in their own country is expected to remain stable after two years of substantial growth.
The Board knows from experience that people who have already booked their holiday will adjust their plans to the rainy weather. A spokesperson says: “Unfortunately, we do not control the weather, but the sector is quite inventive and knows how to respond.” Most holiday parks and camp sites have extensive experience dealing with bad summer weather.
