In the next few decades, the Netherlands will drop in ranking as a world economy. The Dutch currently have the 15th largest economy, but by 2050 they will have dropped to 24th place. The prediction has been made by the HSBC bank’s research department in a report published on Thursday.

US news channel CNN reported on the HSBC study that the bank believes China will overtake the United States in the next forty years as the most important economy. In 2050, India will be the third economy, followed by Japan and Germany.

By mid-century Great Britain, Brazil, Mexico, France and Canada will also be among the top 10 economies.
