THE NETHERLANDS - The driver of a car which was hit by two trains on Tuesday morning is out of danger and is expected to make a full recovery, despite having broken bones.

The car was hit on a railway crossing by an intercity train going from Breda towards Tilburg in the south of the Netherlands, and was carried along for about 300 metres. When the train came to a standstill, an intercity coming from the other direction hit the car and dragged it along a second time.

The accident caused major delays, and the rail network between Breda and Tilburg was closed down for several hours.
