Dutch court stops paedophile prosecution
A Dutch court has ruled that the paedophile support group, , cannot be prosecuted. The Public Prosecutor’s office recently came to the same conclusion.
The latest case for prosecution was brought by a couple whose 3-year-old daughter was systematically sexually abused by a neighbour. The abuser got all kinds of tips from the group's website about how to avoid being detected.
MPs have reacted with dismay at the ruling. “It’s a disappointing verdict, but I understand that the judge had to come to this conclusion,” says one.
Justice Minister Ivo Opstelten says he is waiting for the result of research by Public Prosecutor’s office into the possibility of launching a civil procedure against . He expects to be able to decide on what steps to take in December.
