Dutch consumer spending up again
Dutch consumer spending rose strongly again in December.22 February 2008
VOORBURG – Dutch consumer spending rose strongly again in December. Figures corrected for differences in the number of shopping days show that the increase in spending reached 2.7 percent on an annual basis that month.
Statistics Netherlands (CBS) announced this on Friday. Consumers primarily spent more on goods (up 3.9 percent).
The spending on services was 1.5 percent higher than in December 2006. Consumption for November showed an increase of 2.2 percent from the year previous.
Without correction for the number of shopping days consumer spending rose 2.2 percent in December, and 2.6 percent in November (compared to a year previous), the CBS reported.
