Dutch consumer confidence drops amid euro crisis

Consumer confidence has been eroded in the Netherlands because of the uncertainty surrounding the European debt crisis, says Statistics Netherlands CBS.

The economic watchdog will publish figures later today on consumer confidence for August, but economist Symon Algera warns that the stats “will be more negative than positive”.

The Dutch economy experienced a growth rate of 0.1 percent in the second quarter compared to the first, which is seen as a slow down. The employment market has shown signs of improvement, however, with 46,000 more jobs compared to the same period last year.
