The draw for the UEFA Europa League play-off round took place in Nyon, Switzerland on Friday. Four Dutch clubs - PSV, Feyenoord, AZ Alkmaar and FC Utrecht - were among the 74 clubs involved. For the play-offs the 35 third qualifying round winners joined the 15 losing sides from the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round and a further 24 teams that had qualified automatically for the play-offs.

Feyenoord have drawn Belgian opposition in the form of Genk, which should ensure good support for the Rotterdam club in both legs of the play-off. FC Utrecht have a tough fixture against Glasgow Celtic, one of the sides that failed to qualify for the Champions League. AZ Alkmaar, who were Dutch champions in the 2008-2009 season, have a long trip to Kazakhstan, where they will play FC Aktobe. But PSV Eindhoven have even further to travel, as they were drawn against Sibir Novosibirsk, five time zones to the East.

The play-offs willl take place over two legs, home and away, on 19 and 26 August.
