A Dutch national linked to a US teenager's disappearance in Aruba five years ago has been captured in Chile and held after the stabbing death of a Peruvian woman, police said.

Peruvian police said they were looking for Joran van der Sloot, 22, after the death of Stephany Flores Ramirez, 21, the daughter of Peruvian businessman and race car driver Ricardo Flores Chipoco.

Van der Sloot was named as a key suspect in the highly publicized 2005 disappearance of US teenager Natalee Holloway on the Caribbean island of Aruba, and twice arrested. But charges were never brought against him.

Flores's body was found Tuesday in a hotel in Lima's Miraflores district, police said.

"We have footage and witness statements that (van der Sloot) was entering the hotel with the victim" just before her death, General Cesar Guardia Vasquez, the Peruvian police director of criminal investigations, said.
