Dutch business innovation gets a boost
The government will set up a 500-million-euro fund to give loans to middle-scale and small businesses so they can launch innovative projects. The money will be paid back if the projects are successful.
Economic Affairs Minister Maxime Verhagen announced the fund on Friday after receiving a report from scientists and businesspeople on how to make ten Dutch sectors world beaters. The minister immediately accepted the idea of making investments in research and development deductible from the tax on profits.
