A collision between a mini-bus and a tractor killed two people and injured nine in the central Dutch province of Flevoland on Wednesday morning, police said.

The minibus "collided head-on with a tractor pulling a trailer full of potatoes" on a road running through a Flevoland farming district, police spokeswoman Jacqueline van Houten told AFP.

One person on the bus died in the crash, she said. Ten others, nine from the bus and the 16-year-old driver of the tractor, were taken to hospital injured.

One of those aboard the bus died of his injuries later, said Van Houten.

"The driver of the tractor got caught underneath his vehicle, and had to be freed," she said.
