Dutch bask in heatwave

The Netherlands was the warmest place in Europe on Saturday at around 13:00 local time.

Most areas of the country are enjoying brilliant sunshine although in some places clouds are affording some shade. Parts of the south are expected to reach temperatures of up to 28 degrees Celsius.

Sunday is forecast to be hot as well although rain and thunderstorms are expected towards the end of the day.

The average Dutch temperature in May is between 7 and 18° C.
