The Dutch baseball player Sidney Ponson has been suspended for two years by the International Baseball Federation for doping.

The Netherlands - The Dutch baseball player Sidney Ponson has been suspended for two years by the International Baseball Federation for doping.

Tests during the World Baseball Classic revealed he had used a weight loss drug on the list of banned substances.


Ponson, who was born on the Dutch Antillean island of Aruba, plays for the Kansas City Royals in the US Major League Baseball competition.

 

He will be allowed to continue to play for his team as the Major League uses different rules.
