Dutch aid worker freed in Afghanistan: ministry
A Dutch aid worker and his Afghan driver kidnapped on October 25 in northern Afghanistan have been freed, the Netherlands foreign ministry said on Thursday.
"The Afghan driver is with his family. The Dutch aid worker is in a safe place and will return to the Netherlands as soon as possible to be reunited with his family," the foreign ministry said in a statement.
The two men were kidnapped by armed men while travelling by car in an area between the provinces of Takhar and Kunduz.
A foreign ministry spokesman told AFP that no ransom had been paid for the men's release, but he would not provide any further details.
