AMSTERDAM - Dutch Serbs plan to stage a protest demonstration on Sunday against Kosovo's independence, with around 1,000 people expected to take part, Dutch media reported on Friday.

The rally is due to begin at 1 pm local time and will take place near the Dutch parliament in The Hague.

A spokeswoman for the Dutch Serbs was quoted as saying the "Serb community in the Netherlands rejects and condemns the declaration of independence by the Kosovo-Albanians and will never recognise an independent Kosovo."

She added that a "possible Dutch recognition of Kosovo's independence would be an appalling act. Under the eyes of the international security and peacekeeping troops, ethnic cleansing took place against the Serb population of Kosovo."

The organizer should speak in their own name, since there are Serbs in the Netherlands that will not attend such meeting, and have a different opinion.
