Dutch Red Cross to send aid to Libyan border
The Dutch Red Cross is to send 270,000 euros’ worth of emergency goods to the Tunisian-Libyan border to help refugees who are stranded there after fleeing the violence in Libya. A total of 37 tonnes of goods will be flown to the area at the weekend. From Saturday morning an Antonov 12 transport plane will be flying back and forth between the northern French city of Reims and the Tunisian city of Djerba to deliver the emergency aid.
The money for the emergency aid goods was donated by the Dutch Foreign Ministry. The Dutch Red Cross will be working together with its sister organization in the Dutch speaking region of Belgium Flanders which has also prepared a shipment of emergency goods. The Dutch Red Cross will coordinate distribution of the goods in Tunisia.
