Dutch Premier League leaders PSV Eindhoven lost 0-1 at home to ADO Den Haag on Saturday evening. PSV missed lots of opportunities in the game. The surprise goal came from ADO striker Wesley Verhoek in injury time.

PSV’s shock defeat means FC Twente could take over the lead in the Premier League if they manage to win their difficult away game against FC Utrecht on Sunday.

Another surprising defeat on Saturday was that of AZ Alkmaar. They lost 2-1 to SCB Excelsior who were at home in Rotterdam.

Meanwhile, VVV Venlo won an important victory in their fight against relegation, beating NAC Breda 3-0. SC Heerenveen and NEC drew 0-0.

Despite a mediocre performance, Amsterdam’s Ajax club managed a 2-0 win against De Graafschap on Friday. Ajax are still third in the Premier League but after PSV’s defeat are just three points away from the league leaders.
