Dutch politicians of Moroccan descent have gathered in Utrecht to discuss the position of Muslims in the Netherlands.

The discussion focused on ritual slaughter, male circumcision and the banning of headscarves. These are seen as key issues in Holland’s Muslim community. The politicians also spoke about their role as Dutch-Moroccan politicians in the debate about islam. They said they are facing a dilemma: they want to defend their own community’s interests and at the same also toe their party line.
