Dutch MPs confused over Greek bail-out
The Dutch cabinet says there are various calculations that can be used to explain the new Greek bail-out scheme, but there is no difference of opinion on its content.
This is the message the cabinet tried to convey in a letter sent to parliament on Monday. MPs were confused about Prime Minister Mark Rutte’s statement about a 109-billion-euro bail-out while his colleagues from other Eurozone states mentioned a sum of 159 billion euros.
In its letter, the cabinet says it has consistently spoken about the period until 2014 to help Greece overcome its acute problems. However, the involvement of the financial sector extends well beyond that year.
