Dutch Ice Man wins back title
Dutch ‘Ice Man’ Wim Hof has won back the world record for taking the longest bath in ice. In an event in Hong Kong, he managed to stay in a two-metre high glass box filled with ice for over one hour and 50 minutes. He has a number of records to his name for withstanding cold. Scientists are amazed by his abilities, saying he may be able to influence his central nervous system so as to control his body temperature.
Mr Hof says it’s all down to good mental preparation and the use of Tibetan meditation techniques. “There’s a kind of thermostat in my head,” he says. “If I can control my head, I can control the temperature in my whole body.”
