The Toppers failed to qualify for Eurovision Song Contest 2009.

The Netherlands – For the fifth year in a row the Dutch entry to the European Song Contest has failed to make it through to the final.

Dutch trio The Toppers failed to impress viewers with their song Shine.

As in previous years, a relatively large number of East European countries qualified for the finals. Other countries that qualify were Denmark, Norway, Greece, Sweden, France, Germany, Britain, Finland, Malta, Portugal and Spain.

This year’s annual extravaganza of music and camp will be hosted by Russia on Saturday.

This is my first Eurovision contest but it appears to me that something is definitely wrong here. In my opinion, The Toppers deserved to be sent home but not before several of the Eastern European contestants that were voted into the finals... Perhaps a voting block??
