In the first round of the Europe-Africa zone, the Dutch tennis players are to play Ukraine. The match is to take place in Ukraine from 4 until 6 March. The draw was made in Brussels on Wednesday.

The East European country currently has three players in the top 100 of the world's best players: Sergej Stachovski 32nd, Alexander Dolgopolov 48th and Illja Marshenko 73rd. Stachovski won this year's Unicef Open in the Dutch town of Rosmalen. Davis Cup team captain Jan Siemerink said: "It's a difficult draw. We would have preferred playing at home. However, I have a lot of faith in the team and hope we will be able to play the next match before a friendly audience".
