Dutch Central Bank considering Greek bankruptcy

23rd September 2011, Comments 0 comments

The Dutch Central Bank DNB is seriously considering the possibility that Greece will default on its debts.

In an interview due to appear on Saturday in the Dutch newspaper, bank president Klaas Knot says “It’s one of the scenarios. I wouldn’t rule out Greece going bankrupt.”

The paper says it’s highly unusual for the bank president, who is also a director of the European Central Bank, to speak so openly about Greek bankruptcy. The official European policy line is that bankruptcy is not yet under consideration.
