Dutch AEX index continues its downturn

The main index on the Dutch stock exchange continued its downturn on Wednesday.

AMSTERDAM - The main index on the Dutch stock exchange continued its downturn on Wednesday.

By 11.26 am the AEX index had dropped by 1.89 percent to 461.50 points.

The losses were substantial for several funds. Chip manufacturer ASML Holding dropped 10.12 percent to EUR 16.60 per share.

GSM navigator software producer TomTom dropped by 5.77 percent, while management holding company SBM Offshore saw its share value drop by 4.44 percent.

Ahold, the mother company of the biggest Dutch supermarket chain Albert Heijn, also went down (3.8 percent).

On Tuesday, the AEX closed at what was the lowest level in 16 months, 470.54 points.
