Kenyan athlete Duncan Kibet has won the Rotterdam Marathon in 2:04:26, a new track record, and only 27 seconds slower than Ethiopian Haile Gebreselassie's world record.

ROTTERDAM - The last minutes of the Rotterdam Marathon were extremely exciting, with James Kwambai  leading his compatriot Duncan Kibet until just a few metres before the finish line, when Duncan Kibet found the strength for a final sprint and narrowly defeated James Kwambai.

Best Dutch runner was Koen Raymaekers who finished in 2:18:59.
