Drunk truck driver stuck in Rotterdam tunnel

A man drove a 3.92-metre-high truck into the Maas Tunnel.

Rotterdam – A drunk Belgian truck driver’s first day at work ended dramatically after his vehicle was stuck in the Maas Tunnel in Rotterdam on Thursday.

The 47-year-old man was driving a truck that is 3.92 metres high while the tunnel stands at only 3.60 metres.

The Belgian who reeked of alcohol was found to have blood-alcohol level that exceeded four times the legal limit, said police.

The driver was fined EUR 900 for driving in the tunnel drive and EUR 1,800 for driving under the influence of alcohol. His truck has been seized and his employee has been notified.
