Ten people are being held for smuggling 28 kilos of cocaine from Suriname.
SCHIPHOL—A team from the Royal Military Police at Schiphol have detained ten people for smuggling 28 kilos of cocaine from Suriname.
A spokesperson for the police reported this morning that seven of the suspects worked for Schiphol-based companies.
The investigation, which began in April of last year, culminated in the arrests. The packages of cocaine were hidden in airplanes flying from Suriname. Personnel in charge of the airplanes took the packages off board, and cut them in half. Investigators from the hard crime team intercepted a few shipments.
The team also conducted searches in several houses in relation to the investigation. They confiscated large sums of money, computers and mobile phones. The Public Prosecuter in Haarlem is now heading the investigation.
