SYDNEY (AP) - Former Netherlands and South Korea soccer coach Dick Advocaat will take charge of Australia later this year, Australian newspapers reported Tuesday.

Reports in News Ltd. newspapers said Football Federation Australia concluded negotiations with Advocaat, who will take up his new role when he completes contract commitments to Russian club Zenit St. Petersburg in November.

Advocaat, who led the Netherlands to the quarterfinals of the 1996 World Cup and coached South Korea to their first away win in the World Cup finals in Germany last year, will succeed Australia's caretaker coach Graham Arnold.

Arnold took over from Guus Hiddink, who coached Australia at the 2006 World Cup.
