This weekend's Dickens festival in the northern town of Deventer has proved to be an enormous success.

DEVENTER - On Saturday, a traffic jam of nearly a kilometre in length formed outside the historical district where the Victorian era of Charles Dickens' books was being re-enacted.
The Deventer tourist office reports that the festival attracted more than 75,000 visitors on Saturday, with an even larger number of people expected to visit the festival on Sunday.

In 1843, British author Charles Dickens wrote A Christmas Carol, one of the most famous Christmas stories ever.
