Delta Lloyd pulls out of Volvo Ocean Race

The Dutch sailing boat sponsored by Delta Lloyd has pulled out of the Volvo Ocean Race temporarily.

RIO DE JANEIRO - The boat failed to finished the fourth leg of the race and will not be able to start the fifth leg.

Earlier in the week, damage to the boat's hull was discovered in the bulkhead and the crew set course for port in Taiwan.

When it became apparent that the repairs could not be fixed quickly there, the team decided to have them done in Rio de Janeiro, where the sixth leg of the race starts.

Delta Lloyd is now in eighth and last position in the Volvo Ocean Race.
