Debtors still waiting for 3.9 billion euros

Dutch debtors are still waiting for 3.9 billion euros in debts that were the result of bankruptcies that occurred in 2010.

These figures were published by Statistics Netherlands on Wednesday. In at least 25 percent of these cases the creditors are thought highly unlikely to ever meet their financial obligations.

The economic crisis is seen as the main reason for a 300 percent increase in the number of bankruptcies compared to ten years ago. Last year 7.639 businesses went bankrupt; two thirds of them were firms.
