AMSTERDAM — Media tycoon John de Mol has revealed he is already planning to set up a second television station.
His first channel Talpa launches on Saturday with a focus on Dutch premiere league soccer and a line up of Dutch celebrities he has poached from rival channels.
"I can say with certainty we will come with a second channel... it will be a broad family broadcaster. I see plenty of possibilities for this," said the man who introduced the Big Brother phenomenon to the world said.
He made his comments in an interview with the GDP news agency. His Talpa station goes on the air on Saturday.
"You can compare it to brewer Heineken, which apart from its own brand has launched Amstel beer on the market. Or publisher Sanoma, which has both the Libelle and Margriet magazines", the television maker explained.
De Mol declined to say more about his plans for the programming the second station will feature.
