SCHIPHOL (ANP) – Detectives from the Marechaussee arrested nine suspects, including two customs officials, in an operation aimed at rounding up a drug smuggling organisation at Schiphol airport.

The customs officials had been in charge of drug checks, the Marechaussee said today.

Marechaussee spokesperson Rob Stenacker says this investigation was part of a larger offensive against all sorts of employees at Schiphol who are involved in the drug trade. A third suspect arrested was also employed at the airport.
