Crisis takes its toll on Dutch industry

Dutch firms are still feeling the pain from the global economic crisis, reveals report.

The Hague -- Dutch industries are not yet showing signs of recovery, according to Statistics Netherlands (CBS).

The national statistics agency reports that average production was down 13 percent from April 2008. Turnover was down 26 percent.
The transport sector was hit hardest, with double digit drops in production and turnover. Production was down 29 percent and turnover suffered a 45 percent decrease compared to last year's figures.
The food industry was the best performer, but turnover and production still declined compare to a year earlier.
