IJMUIDEN – An enormous crane collapsed in the seaport of IJmuiden on Sunday morning. One man was injured in the accident after he was hit by a piece of steel cable.

The harbourmaster of IJmuiden has announced this. The 60-metre high crane was stationed on the Jumping Jack floating construction island and was used for erecting windmills.

It is still unclear why the crane collapsed. The harbourmaster said that it was fortunate that the accident did not happen during the working week, when the port is much busier and consequences could have been more serious.
