Cost of leisure in Netherlands soars

Entry prices to Dutch zoos, amusement parks and theatres have greatly increased over the past 18 months, above the rate of inflation.

The Netherlands – The cost of a trip to the zoo, an amusement park or theatre in the Netherlands has greatly increased over the past 18 months, above the rate of inflation.

Zoos and museums, in particular, have increased their prices by 10 percent, according to figures from Statistics Netherlands, while inflation during the same period was just four percent.

The trend goes back even further than the past year and a half. In the last 10 years, the average price of a trip to a zoo or museum has risen by 70 percent and, to an amusement park, 66 percent. The prices of cinema, theatre or concert (including music festival) tickets have increased by more than half.
