Consumer confidence is up

Consumer confidence is showing an upward trend this month, figures published by Statistics Netherlands show.

The Netherlands - The government statistics office says that people appear less pessimistic about the economy than in July, although most were found to expect a further economic decline over the next twelve months.

The Dutch are also reported to be a little more positive about their personal financial situation and think it is a good time for substantial purchases.

A survey by the Ministry of Finance, however, recently found that the Dutch are financially naive and tend to overestimate their spending power.
Consumer confidence reached its lowest point in March. Its revival appears to coincide with the movements in the share market, which also hit rock-bottom in March, Statistics Netherlands says.
