THE HAGUE – The faculty and students of the Haagse Hogeschool are up in arms about the appointment of former politician Rob Oudkerk as a lecturer on "lifestyle change among youth" at the college.

A teacher wrote in an open letter to the Hogeschool's director that he is astonished at the decision to employ Oudkerk.

Oudkerk was forced to resign as an alderman for the Labour party PvdA in Amsterdam in 2004 because he had regularly been visiting prostitutes in an illegal prostitution zone.

In his new position as lecturer he will be researching how to help solve the problem of obesity among children.

Oudkerk has never done any research in this area before, the teacher wrote in his letter published in the school newspaper. He also says there is little support at the college for his appointment.
