Colombia offers Dutch guerillera way out

The Colombian government is offering Dutch FARC guerrilla Tanja Nijmeijer a way out. Vice President Angelino Garzón has told Dutch public radio that if she voluntarily left the rebel movement she would have nothing to fear from the Colombian government.

Tanja Nijmeijer joined the FARC eight years ago. It was thought she might have been killed in a recent attack on a rebel camp, but this proved not to be the case. Over the past few days, a number of photos and emails have surfaced which show that the Colombian rebel movement wants her to play an important international role.
