AMSTERDAM – Amsterdam discos systematically discriminate against people of minority background in their door policy, green-left party GroenLinks said on Sunday on the basis of its own investigation.

The party is going to call for action today from Justice Minister Ernst Hirsch Ballin (CDA) Minister for Housing, Communities and Integration Ella Vogelaar (PvdA).

GroenLinks is considering drawing up a blacklist of nightlife spots that systematically discriminate against people of non-Dutch background.

The party set up its own test on Saturday by sending GroenLinks MP Tofik Dibi, of Moroccan descent, and his younger brother to try to get in to four discos in Amsterdam. The two were refused entry to all four.

Two native Dutch youths, sent by the television programme EditieNL, were able to get into all four clubs without a problem on the same night.

GroenLinks wants the license held by nightclubs to be revoked if it is found that they are repeatedly guilty of discrimination.
